WhatsApp for irua.app

WhatsApp for irua.app upgrades your event guest messaging from SMS to WhatsApp. irua.app runs your guest list, registration, RSVPs, and day-of QR check-in; WAGate delivers every guest touchpoint — the invitation, the personal RSVP link, the reminder, the entry pass, and the thank-you — as a WhatsApp message your guests actually open. Both are built by Activated Digital, so they're made to fit together.

Overview

irua.app is Activated Digital's event guest-management platform: it holds your approved guest list, runs the public registration form, sends each guest a personal RSVP link, and turns any phone into a QR check-in scanner on the day. Until now those guest messages went out by SMS. WhatsApp for irua.app routes them through WAGate and the official WhatsApp Cloud API instead — so the invitation, the RSVP request, the reminder, the entry pass, and the post-event thank-you all arrive on the channel your guests check first.

The model is the same one WAGate uses everywhere: connect a WhatsApp number once via Embedded Signup, create the event message templates that Meta approves, and map each irua.app guest message to one of your approved templates — filling its {{1}} variables from the guest and the event (name, event title, date, venue, and the guest's personal RSVP link). No developer account, no per-SMS segment fees, no glue code.

Because both products are built by the same team, the pairing is first-party: irua.app already tracks each guest's confirmation, RSVP, and thank-you status, and WAGate gives every one of those a delivery record — sent, delivered, read, or failed — in the signed Log Explorer, with guest replies landing back in your WAGate Inbox.

Why WhatsApp for events

Four reasons event producers move their guest messaging to WhatsApp through WAGate:

Open rates SMS can't match
WhatsApp invitations and reminders get read within minutes, so more guests RSVP and fewer miss the event because the text slipped by.
Richer than a text
Send the QR entry pass as an image, a one-tap RSVP button, and the venue location in a single WhatsApp message — not a bare SMS link.
Two-way RSVPs
Guests reply right in the chat to confirm, decline, or ask a question; replies land in your WAGate Inbox, not on a dead SMS number.
One number, every event
Run multiple events from one connected number, map each guest message to your approved templates, and see every send logged in Log Explorer.

How to connect irua.app to WhatsApp

  1. Connect a WhatsApp number

In WAGate, run Embedded Signup to connect the number you'll send guest messages from. WAGate registers the webhook and stores your token encrypted — you never touch the Meta developer console.

  2. Approve your event templates

In Template Hub, create the templates you'll send — invitation / RSVP request, event reminder, entry pass, and thank-you & feedback — and submit them for Meta approval. WAGate syncs their status back automatically.

  3. Switch irua.app to WhatsApp

In irua.app → Settings, set the delivery channel to WhatsApp and paste your WAGate API key and webhook URL. You'll find both in WAGate's onboarding handshake or in Developer Studio.

  4. Map guest messages to templates

Map each irua.app message — confirmation, RSVP request, reminder, thank-you — to one of your approved templates, and map {name}, {event}, {date}, {venue}, and the personal RSVP link to the template variables.

  5. Test, then send to your list

Send to a test guest to confirm the wording and the RSVP link, then send to your guest list — or let irua.app fire each message automatically as guests register, RSVP, and check in.

Tip. Invitations to guests who gave you their number for that event are service messages; large promotional or marketing blasts use Marketing-category templates and require opt-in — see the acceptable use policy.

Guest messages you can automate

WAGate fires the WhatsApp template you mapped for each irua.app touchpoint, filling its variables from the guest and the event:

irua.app touchpointTypical WhatsApp messageVariables you can map
Registration confirmedConfirmation with event detailsGuest first name, event name, date, time, venue
RSVP requestInvitation with a one-tap RSVP linkGuest name, event name, personal RSVP link, date
Event reminderReminder before the eventGuest first name, event name, date, time, venue / map link
Entry passQR check-in ticketGuest name, event name, QR pass, gate / seat
Thank-you & feedbackPost-event thank-you with feedback linkGuest first name, event name, feedback link
Tip. irua.app already tracks a separate status for each message type per guest — so confirmations, RSVPs, and thank-yous each get their own delivery record in Log Explorer.

Frequently asked questions

What is irua.app?

irua.app is Activated Digital's event guest-management platform: approved guest lists, a public registration form, personal RSVP links, day-of QR check-in, and post-event reports. WAGate is the same team's WhatsApp platform — together they deliver your event's guest messages over WhatsApp instead of SMS.

How do I send irua.app guest messages over WhatsApp?

Connect a WhatsApp number in WAGate via Embedded Signup, approve your event templates in Template Hub, then in irua.app → Settings switch the delivery channel to WhatsApp and paste your WAGate API key and webhook URL. Map each guest message to an approved template and you're live.

Why WhatsApp instead of SMS for event invitations?

WhatsApp open and read rates far exceed SMS, messages can carry the QR entry pass as an image and a one-tap RSVP button, and guests can reply in the same chat — replies land in your WAGate Inbox. You also avoid per-segment SMS costs.

Do I need a Meta developer account?

No. WAGate's Embedded Signup connects your number in minutes and handles token storage, webhook registration, and template approval. You approve your event templates and map them to irua.app's guest messages.

Which guest messages can go over WhatsApp?

Registration confirmation, the RSVP request with a personal link, event reminders, the QR entry pass, and the post-event thank-you and feedback request. Each maps to one of your Meta-approved templates with variables pulled from the guest and event.

Can guests RSVP by replying on WhatsApp?

Yes. The RSVP request carries the guest's personal link, and guests can also reply directly in the chat; their replies appear in your WAGate Inbox where your team can respond.

Is there a consent or opt-in rule?

Event service messages to guests who gave you their number for that event are generally fine; large promotional or marketing blasts use Marketing-category templates and require opt-in. Review the acceptable use policy for the rules.
