WhatsApp for WooCommerce

WAGate for WooCommerce turns your WordPress store into a WhatsApp messaging engine: every order, payment, shipment, cancellation and abandoned cart can fire a Meta-approved WhatsApp template automatically — installed with a single plugin and connected in minutes.

Overview

The WAGate integration for WooCommerce links your WordPress store to your connected WhatsApp number so that store events become WhatsApp messages your customers actually read. Instead of relying on transactional email — where order confirmations land in spam and shipping notices go unseen — WooCommerce fires a real WhatsApp message the moment an order is placed, a payment clears, or a package ships.

It works through a downloadable WordPress plugin, WAGate for WooCommerce. You install it on your store, click Connect, and the store appears automatically inside your WAGate dashboard under Integrations. From there you map each store event to one of your approved WhatsApp templates and let WAGate handle delivery, retries, pacing and quality monitoring on top of Meta's official Cloud API.

WhatsApp matters here because it is where order updates get opened. Open rates dwarf email, replies are instant, and the conversation stays in one familiar thread — so a shipping notice, a payment receipt or a cart-recovery nudge reaches the customer in seconds rather than sitting unread in an inbox.

Why WhatsApp for WooCommerce

This integration is built for real stores: concrete events, real order data, and full control over what goes out.

One-plugin install
Drop the WAGate for WooCommerce plugin onto WordPress, activate, and click Connect — the store links to your dashboard with no Meta developer account to wrangle.
Quick-start templates
One click creates the Meta template and wires it to the matching event, so order confirmations and shipping updates go live without manual mapping.
Real order variables
Templates fill from live WooCommerce data: order number, formatted total, currency, payment method, customer first name and the tracking URL.
Safe by design
A per-store master on/off switch plus Test mode routes every message to a test number, so you can verify the flow before a single customer is touched.

How to connect WooCommerce to WhatsApp

  1. Connect a WhatsApp number

In WAGate, run Embedded Signup to connect the WhatsApp number you'll send from. This is required before any store messages can go out.

  2. Install the WordPress plugin

Download the WAGate for WooCommerce plugin (.zip), upload it in WordPress under Plugins, and activate it.

  3. Click Connect

Open WooCommerce → WAGate in wp-admin and click Connect. The store appears automatically in your WAGate dashboard under Integrations. (Alternatively, in WAGate go to Integrations → Add store and paste the store key into the plugin.)

  4. Approve your templates

In the Template Hub, create the WhatsApp templates you want to send. Or use a quick-start template, which creates the Meta template and wires it to the matching event in one click.

  5. Map events to templates

For each store event — order placed, payment received, completed, cancelled, refunded — pick an approved template and map its variables to order and customer fields.

  6. Test, then go live

Turn on Test mode to send every message to your test number, confirm the wording and variables, then switch the store's master toggle on to start messaging real customers.

Tip. Send a New-order alert to your own number so you get a WhatsApp ping the instant an order comes in — no need to watch wp-admin.

Events you can automate

Each WooCommerce event maps to one of your approved templates, with variables pulled straight from the order, customer or cart.

Which plan you need

The WooCommerce integration is included on every WAGate plan, starting with Starter at $14/mo — Starter gives you one connected number, the Template Hub and WooCommerce & Shopify integration. Step up to Growth or Scale when you want automations, AI assist, more numbers and the Developer API. You'll also need a connected WhatsApp number via Embedded Signup and approved templates in the Template Hub.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a Meta developer account to connect WooCommerce?

No. WAGate handles the Meta side for you. You connect a WhatsApp number once through Embedded Signup, install the WAGate for WooCommerce plugin, and click Connect — there is no Meta developer account or Business Manager wrangling.

How do I install the plugin?

Download WAGate for WooCommerce from the plugin link, upload it in WordPress under Plugins, activate it, then open WooCommerce → WAGate in wp-admin and click Connect. The store then appears automatically in WAGate under Integrations.

What if the store doesn't appear automatically?

You can add it by hand: in WAGate go to Integrations → Add store, copy the store key, and paste it into the plugin settings on your WordPress site. The store will link the same way.

Which WooCommerce events can I send WhatsApp messages for?

Order placed, Payment received, Order completed, Order cancelled, Order refunded, a New-order alert to your own number, and Abandoned cart. Each event maps to one of your approved templates with variables pulled from the order, customer or cart.

Can I test before messaging real customers?

Yes. Every store has a Test mode that routes all messages to a test number instead of real customers, plus a master on/off switch. Verify your templates and variables in Test mode, then flip the store on when you're ready.

What about abandoned cart and review messages?

Abandoned-cart and review-request messages are Marketing category and require customer opt-in. See our acceptable use policy. Order confirmations and shipping updates are utility messages and follow Meta's standard rules.

Do I have to build the WhatsApp templates myself?

You can, in the Template Hub — or use a one-click quick-start template, which creates the Meta template and wires it to the matching WooCommerce event automatically. Templates still go through Meta approval before sending.

How much does the WooCommerce integration cost?

It's included on every plan, starting with Starter at $14/mo (one number, 1,000 messages, Template Hub, WooCommerce & Shopify). See pricing and sign up to get started.
