WhatsApp for Salesforce
Send WhatsApp messages from Salesforce Flows. A Salesforce admin connects WAGate once as an External Service; from then on any Flow can send an approved template — no Apex, no package.
Overview
Salesforce External Services turn WAGate’s API description into a ready-made Flow action: Send WhatsApp Template. Add it to a record-triggered or screen Flow and your CRM can message a customer the moment a lead is created, an opportunity changes stage or a case is opened.
WAGate runs on Meta’s official WhatsApp Cloud API, so the message follows the same pipeline as the rest of the platform. Setup takes a Salesforce admin about ten minutes and uses only standard Salesforce features: a Named Credential, an External Service and a Flow.
Why it matters
Your CRM already knows when to talk to the customer. This lets it do it on WhatsApp.
How to connect Salesforce to WhatsApp
-
Connect your WhatsApp number
Sign in to WAGate and run Embedded Signup to connect your WhatsApp number. It takes minutes and needs no Meta developer account.
-
Create an API key
Open Developer Studio → API keys and create a key (it looks like
ag_live_sk_...). API keys are available on the Growth and Scale plans. -
Add the credential in Salesforce
In Setup create an External Credential and a Named Credential called
WAGateforhttps://wagate.app, sending your API key as a Bearer token. -
Register the External Service
Add an External Service named
WAGatefrom the OpenAPI file below. Salesforce generates the Send WhatsApp Template action. -
Build the Flow
In a Flow, set the recipient, template name, language and variables on the action’s body object and call the action. Debug runs send a real message.
What you can automate
Any Salesforce event that can start a Flow can start a WhatsApp message. Common plays:
| Salesforce event | WhatsApp message it can send |
|---|---|
| New lead | A welcome message with next steps |
| Opportunity stage changes | A status update to the customer |
| Case created or closed | An acknowledgement or a resolution notice |
| Appointment or event booked | A reminder shortly before it starts |

Plans & getting started
The Salesforce connection runs on the WAGate API, a Growth and Scale feature — both plans include Developer Studio API keys. Starter does not include API keys, so it cannot connect to Salesforce. Compare plans on the pricing page, then start a free trial, connect your number and send your first Flow message in minutes.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a WAGate app on the Salesforce AppExchange?
Not today. The integration uses Salesforce’s built-in External Services, so nothing needs to be installed from a store and an admin can set it up in about ten minutes. Download the OpenAPI file above to start.
Which WAGate plan do I need for Salesforce?
Salesforce connects through the WAGate API, a Growth or Scale feature that includes Developer Studio API keys. The Starter plan cannot connect.
Do customer replies arrive in Salesforce?
Not directly yet. Replies arrive in the WAGate inbox, and you can send them on to Salesforce with Zapier or Make, or with our webhooks.
